Employees of Sykes Asia, Inc., the pioneer in the call center industry in the Philippines, had more reasons to be ecstatic during the holidays as their company hosted their much-awaited year-end celebration, where SYKESers had the chance to take home  more than P2Milllion worth of prizes.

Bringing together around 5,000 Manila-based employees, SYKES continued its annual tradition, this time going futuristic and bannering the theme “SYKES FUTURE FORWARD: The SYKES 2015 Year-End Celebration”. The four halls of SMX Convention Center in Pasay City were filled last December 13 with SYKESers who showed up in their most fabulous “fashion-forward” style.

Coveted new gadgets and appliances were given away during the raffle draw where SYKESers had the chance to win a 32” Samsung LED TV, Mac Book Air, Ipad Mini 3, iPhone 6, Go Pro, FujiFilm Instax Mini 8, and the latest Samsung phones. Employees got a sweet surprise during the one-night only event when SYKES’ Vice President and Country Manager Dean Van Ormer took the stage and picked a winner of the Php150,000 grand prize and additional two winners who took home Php100,000 each.

SYKESers also showcased their talents as four groups battled it out on the dance floor for the honor of being hailed as the Grand Champion in the Group Dance Competition. The groups “Tribe of the Future”, “The B Crew”, “A List” and "True Sight of the Kaleidoscope" all showed their dancing prowess, with the latter emerging as the grand winner.

Since the party bannered the futuristic theme, SYKES employees donned their most grandiose and futuristic outfits. Two SYKESers were chosen as Fashion Forward winners: Rich Dingding (Male Category) and Gemma de Lima (Female Category).

In line with continuously encouraging its employees to live a well-balanced life, SYKES gave out two special awards to acknowledge the efforts of SYKESers. Whally Boy De Leon was given a trip for two to Boracay after he emerged as the winner in the “SYKES Fit & Fab Weight Loss Program”. Moreover, the employee organization “SYKESClista” was named as “SYKES Choices Club” awardee for 2015 for its activities in promoting a positive and effective work-life balance.

The crowd was also delighted when characters of the much-talked about movie of the year, Star Wars, appeared before them. Cloaked and armed with a lightsaber, Van Ormer surprised the crowd in an action-packed fight scene between him and Mike Henderson, Senior Vice President, Regional Operations, APAC Operations. SYKESers all cheered on as the two company executives went all out in their performance on stage.

Another highlight of the event is the participation of the popular and multi-awarded “Pambansang Banda ng Bayan” Parokya ni Edgar, who jammed with the employees.

The Year-End Party in Manila was held a week later after Cebu-based employees celebrated their own party last December 6 at Waterfront Hotel, led by John Sneed, SYKES Vice-President for Area Operations and Global Services. To note, SYKES is the first BPO company to expand its network and operations in Cebu.

Aside from celebrating the company’s success this year, the annual Year-End Celebration served as SYKES’ way of thanking its dedicated employees for their contributions to the company's achievements. “Nothing is more important to me this night than spending time with all the employees of SYKES,” Van Ormer shared.  As SYKESers from different sites in Manila marched together to celebrate as one, the company further reinforced its support for the employees’ camaraderie and work-life balance.

SYKES made history in the business industry in 1997 when it established its operations in the Philippines. Eighteen years later, and with more than 13,000 employees, it is still as determined as before in conquering the future.
