| The champion SYKESers with their trophies |
Reaffirming its winning tradition, Sykes
Asia, Inc. (SYKES) once again proved that it is the home of the champions after
bagging the Grand Champion title in
the 2015 BPO Classics Tournaments (Basketball – Recreational Division) where
one of its players emerged as this year’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Senior Vice President for Regional
Operations (APAC) MIke Henderson and Vice President and Country Manager
(Philippines) Dean Van Ormer welcomed the players who presented their trophies
to the SYKES executives during a courtesy call. Dean expressed the company’s
appreciation for the players' efforts. “SYKES can't thank you enough. You
represented our company well and we take pride in what you have achieved,“ he
told the winning SYKESers.
Led by their team co-captain, Geoff Que, the players in
turn shared how much they valued the assistance they got from SYKES
during the
Philippines’ biggest BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) sports lifestyle
tournament. “It is really
incredible," the team captain voiced out. "Each of us has been
playing for various tournaments but it is a different feeling when you are
playing and carrying the brand of your company. We are just so happy because we
know that from the very start, we have the support of SYKES and its top
management like Mike and Dean”.
Meanwhile,
SYKESer Alfredo Fulay, stood out as this
year’s MVP (Recreational Division).
When asked what inspired him to consistently deliver his winning shots
and assists, he said that it was primarily because he knew he had the trust of
his teammates.
Aside from bagging the Grand Champion title for the
Recreational Division, another SYKES basketball team also placed as
Semi-Finalist for the Competitive Division. Moreover, SYKES' volleyball team
players made sure they created a mark in this year’s tournament by being a
Finalist in the Men’s Volleyball Division after an intense game.
Aside from gaining their respective recognitions,
all the players from the three teams agree that this tournament was a good
activity to show other companies the strong sense of camaraderie SYKES has
among its employees. The players are also looking forward to the next
tournament where they can compete under the banner of SYKES again.
